This type of valve is a non-return component, critically important for preventing the ingress of seawater into the hull, typically when fitted to the ship’s shell plating. Unlike manually operated valves, a Storm Valve automatically opens under the pressure of effluent water flowing out and immediately closes to prevent backflow from external wave action or high water levels. Constructed from Cast Steel for robust performance and corrosion resistance, it is a straight-type design, ensuring minimal flow restriction for discharge.
